Veneers

A veneer is a thin shell made out of porcelain or composite material. They are custom made and cemented to the front side of the tooth.

Why are Veneers Needed?

A veneer can be used to treat dental conditions such as a slightly crooked tooth, discolored teeth, chipped teeth or they can even be used to cover spaces in between the teeth
Veneers can mask undesirable defects, such as teeth stained by tetracycline, by an injury, or as a result of a root-canal procedure, and are ideal for masking discolored fillings in front teeth. Patients with gaps between their front teeth or teeth that are chipped or worn may consider veneers.

What Types of Veneers Are Available?

  • Porcelain Veneers: Most people opt to get porcelain veneers (a thin type of dental veneer that is almost always used for upper-end veneer procedures) when it comes time to upgrade their smile. With this type of dental veneer, we will need to take an impression of your existing teeth. This impression will be sent out to a lab where your set of veneers will be crafted. The dental veneers typically return from the lab within a week. Once back, the porcelain veneers will be bonded to your existing teeth to create a new and beautiful smile.

  • Composite Veneers: Composite Veneers are the cheaper alternative to porcelain veneers. We do not recommend the use of Composite veneers.

Does a Veneer Require Special Care?

We may advise you against certain uses or dietary tendencies (such as eating carrots) and may recommend you wear a protective appliance while your sleep, especially if you are a bruxer.
